The new Saturday Stroll is quieter and more focused on the art in the galleries. It will run every Saturday afternoon, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Oakland Art Murmur Is Expanding – Now Runs Every Saturday Afternoon

First Friday Event Continues, but with Quieter Saturday Complement

Many of the galleries that participate in Oakland’s highly popular Art Murmur gallery scene are extending their First Friday festivities to include Saturday hours, in what is hoped will lure in art enthusiasts who prefer a lower profile scene. The new Saturday Stroll, as the Art Murmur collective is calling it, is expected to be quieter and more focused on the art in the galleries. It will run every Saturday afternoon, from 1 to 5 p.m.

oam-ss-logo-hiresSelect Oakland Art Murmur galleries have already joined the Saturday Stroll, which will concentrate on Oakland’s Uptown district. The district is concentrated along Telegraph Ave. between Grand Ave. and 27th Street, and along 23rd Street, 25th Street and 26th Street, between Telegraph Ave. and Broadway. Art Murmur plans to release a self-guided walking tour that will assist gallery hoppers.

Most of the district’s galleries are on board for the new Saturday event. The participating galleries are:
