Oakland Art Murmur Membership Guidelines 2011

Oakland Art Murmur is open to spaces who meet the following criteria:
Your space must align with the mission of the Oakland Art Murmur organization
- Our Mission: Oakland Art Murmur is a coalition of art and cultural venues dedicated to increasing popular awareness of and participation in the arts community of Oakland, with an emphasis on visual art. We promote the arts in Oakland through collective marketing and outreach efforts and organize a monthly First Friday Art Walk event, Art Murmur, which is free and open to the public.
Your space must be located within our geographic boundaries.
- No farther North than 30th and Telegraph.
- No farther South than 17th and Telegraph.
- No farther West than Telegraph.
- No farther East than Webster.
Additional Requirements
- Your space has to be open every First Friday, to the public, for free between 6-9pm.
- During the First Friday Art Murmur, your space will be expected to hold an artist reception for your current show.
- Your space must hold rotating art exhibitions that are installed and on view for at least 3-4 weeks.
- Your space must be open to the public for free to show the rotating art shows, other days/evenings than just First Friday.
- Your space must promote the artist through marketing methods such as postcards and website presence.
- Your space will be encouraged to attend and participate in committees and meetings regarding the Oakland Art Murmur organization.
- Your space will be responsible to pay yearly dues.
