Vending at OAM's First Friday Event on 23rd Street:
What follows is a list of guidelines for each vending group (FOOD and CRAFT). Please read through these guidelines carefully to ensure that you meet all the criteria, prior to requesting a vendor space. If, after reviewing the guidelines, you meet the criteria and are interested in reserving space, be sure to email your reservation request to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it no later than 2 weeks prior to the next first Friday. Please put “VENDOR RESERVATION” in the subject line. We will do our best to get back to you with a confirmation (or further questions) with 2 days of receipt.
ALL VENDORS (food and art/craft):

In order to remain in compliance with the permit issued us by the City, every vendor must possess a current City of Oakland Business License, as well as a State of California Seller's Permit. Any/All
vendors found to be without these two permits will be asked to leave, and may be subject to fines/penalties. -
In keeping with the mission of the Oakland Art Murmur, to support and feature Oakland-based artists and artisans, the OAM will book only those vendors who reside and/or whose business is currently within the
Oakland city limits. -
Set-up time for all vendors is between 5:00PM and 5:30PM. All vendors must have their vehicles, etc. off the street by 5:30pm. Vendors MUST check-in with the event manager prior to setting-up their booth. Please do not set up your booth until after you've spoken with the event manager, and have been assigned a space.
FOOD VENDORS:

All food vendors must possess either a valid ACEHD temporary food booth operator permit, or annual permit (carts/trucks). To obtain a temporary food booth operator permit, contact the ACEHD at:http://www.acgov.org/aceh/billing/index.htm 510-567-6858 and tell them you need a permit for the Oakland Art Murmur First Friday 23rd St. event. Any vendor who vends without one of these two permits is subject to fines by the ACEHD.

As of January, 2012, a 10X10 food vendor fee is $60 (booth or cart), and a truck is $75.

A maximum of 7 food booths, or 5 booths and 2 trucks will be allocated for the event.

Reservations will now be accepted for up to three months at a time. Meaning; if you'd like to hold a space for Jan., Feb. & March, you'll now have the ability to do so, though you're not obligated to do so.

Each monthly reservation requires a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total vendor fee. Upon confirmation of your reservation, you'll be given details as to how/where/when to make this deposit.

Each food vendor MUST provide their own trash/recycling/compost receptacles, and each vendor must carry their trash out with them. Vendors who do not comply will be fined $25 by the Art Murmur, and will not be permitted to vend.

In compliance with the City of Oakland's zero waste ordinance, food vendors MUST use only recyclable and/or compostable service materials. NO Styrofoam. NO non-recyclable plastics or other materials. Vendors who do not comply are subject to fines/citations by the City of Oakland, will be fined $25 by the Art Murmur, and will not be permitted to vend.

Each vendor MUST provide their own adequate lighting in their space. Vendors without adequate lighting are subject to fine by both the OAM, and the ACEHD.
ART/CRAFT VENDORS:

All vendors must possess a City of Oakland business license (http://www.oaklandbac.com/), and a State of California Seller's
Permit (http://www.boe.ca.gov/). Any vendor who vends without one of these two permits is subject to fines. -
As of January 2012, craft vendor booth fee is $30.

Art/Craft vendors are encouraged to bring full booth set-up if you have it. It's not required, but definitely encouraged. We have noticed
that the more your booth stands out, the more business you attract. -
We ask that each vendor be responsible for maintenance of and around their space. If you generate any trash at all, you must bring your own trash bin and take trash with you when you leave.
