Introducing Oakland Originals™ Profile on Kristi Holohan, a human rights activist, artist, educator, curator, community member and arts advocate, and a member of the Rock Paper Scissors Collective.
Rock Paper Scissors Collective is a member-directed, all volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that fosters creativity and collaboration in order to strengthen local communities, encourage sustainable practices, and explore alternative models. RPS promotes the sharing of ideas, skills, and resources through the celebration of art, craft, education, and performance. RPS currently realizes this mission through free and low-cost classes, curated and open call art shows, retail of independently made clothing/ craft/zines/music, pop-up art workshops, a variety of community events, and youth involvement.
Kristi is also a founder of the Arts and Creative Expression (ACE Arts), an artist organization created to sustainably address social issues through the arts by teaching foundation techniques and providing materials to those who do not have access to art programs. Her personal work includes murals, textiles, illustration, garment construction, policy, and artist’s consultation.
