Susan Aulik is an abstract painter with an intuitive creative process. She follows where the paint leads her in each work. In this new series, strange creatures emerge from lush pictorial planes. These characters came out as a surprise as the artist went to the canvas while sheltering in place. They seem to have originated from a primal subconscious place. Gallery Hours: Thursdays – Saturdays 12-5 pm and First Fridays 5-8 pm Artists' Opening Reception Saturday October 9th, 1 -5 pm Unlikely Heroes pairs monumental paintings by Christine Ferrouge and dynamic sculptures by Samuelle Richardson. Girls, dogs, and birds wander through a gloomy backdrop of damaged forest and dance with gestural marks, rough edges, and a united palette of charcoal, earth and fiery hues. These somewhat benign, unlikely heroes possess surprising strength, presence, and hope.
