“Flux”: New Works by Elaine Maute`

September 17 @ 12:00 pm - October 29 @ 5:00 pm

Free

Manna Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of Oakland artist Elaine Maute`’s most recent work.  Entitled ”Flux!”,  the exhibition opens Saturday, September 17 and continues to Saturday, October 29.  The exhibition is free and open to the public.

In “Flux”, Elaine continues her exploration of movement that began with her Cirque shows and over time has become increasingly abstracted.  Her current work uses looser gestures and strives to accept the accidental as part of the beauty of her expression and process.

Coming from a family of theoretical scientists, Elaine has always been attracted to the abstract in art.  She believes abstraction can command subtle nuances of meaning that reach far beyond the everyday, mundane reality most of us live in.  She is drawn to primal shapes, iconic forms and the intricacies of geometry.  She has approached her abstract sensibilities through a variety of mediums including paintings, collage, encaustic and three dimensional work.
