THE STOREFRONTS INITIATIVE
October 23, 2020 - January 15, 2021

ART AND ARTISTS HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE VALUABLE – OR MORE ENDANGERED – THAN IN 2020
Beginning in October 2020 and through 2021, Oakland Art Murmur, in partnership with Immersive Arts Alliance and local property owners, will activate empty storefronts with art created by Bay Area artists.
In this difficult Winter, as we look toward Spring, we ask you to support these artists and this initiative: to spark light and inspiration in the streets and sidewalks around us! Help OAM and IAA continue this work by making a donation. 100% of the proceeds will go towards production, installation and artist compensation.
A Storefront creates an identity for a location, and tells us what is for sale there. Art creates a transaction where money may not change hands. We expect from art something less fungible, harder to quantify, occupying a special place in the sphere of human invention.
Our first installation, “FLUX”, by Sally Weber, is currently installed in a storefront at 4700 Telegraph Avenue through Mid November 2020. Other artists to include: Richard Nelson, Nemo Gould, Joty Dhaliwal, Chadwick Heath Moore, Dan Webber, Shaghayegh Cyrous.
Help OAM and IAA continue this work by making a donation to the program. 100% of the proceeds will go towards production, installation and artist compensation.
