Fleshy pinks, candy reds, and iridescent green fat shimmer in these monumental ink drawings. Burke's work often explores the intersection between man-made and natural worlds. The specific inspiration for Meat Candy comes from a personal examination of our meat consumption and production. Like a contemporary twist on a cubist still-life, Burke abstracts and repeats his subject with masterful design that results in graceful, dynamic compositions. "Ferrouge's Ties and Capes portrays two of the artist's daughters playing dress-up. Both wear men's hats and neckties, with blankets tied around their shoulders as makeshift capes. Closing Reception, Batgirl and Robin
Batgirl and Robin is about friendship that bridges us together from a young age. The best part of a youthful game is the fun we have when we are on the same team looking out for each other. We concoct storylines that unites us against the "bad guys". Memories from this make-believe playtime forms our identities and prepares us for life.
